The Good, the Bad, and the Downright Ugly

Not much to say about this particular school district's web- site, it is very good. The homepage loads quickly, navigation is clean, and a visitor to the site can find and contact just about anyone in the district if necessary. Another important aspect is the fact that viewing the page in either Netscape or I.E. yields the same experience and interaction. There are just two small issues at had. One is the fact that the main body of text "bleeds" over onto the image. This bleeding affect can, and often does, detract from the message (Tips 4).

One other aspect is this district's use of email - I have not been able to find any email addresses. This was probably a conscious effort on their part, to eliminate just "willy-nilly" email from anyone who has an "axe to grind." If an organization doesn't have the resources to commit to this aspect of Web presence, then it is probably best not to implement it--individuals can get very frustrated if a response to an email message is not received in a timely manner. Maintaining email requires much in the way of resources, especially if a "virus" enters the system. One can always write a letter or use the telephone if contact is required.
