Hurricane Opal Project Activity

Remote Sensing This activity will present to the participant the basic concepts of image processing and remote sensing.
Digital Numbers Participants will discover the numbers behind the computer image.
Contrast/Brightness This activity introduces the participant to NIH Image and the contrast and brightness controls.
Histograms This activity introduces the participant to an image histogram.
Measuring This activity introduces the participant to using the NIH Image processing software to measure lengths and areas.
Density Slicing This activity will introduce the participant to the concept of density slicing (high-lighting specific pixels).
Particle Analysis This activity will introduce the participant to particle analysis (the analyzes of specific pixels).
Density Calibration This activity will introduce the participant to density calibration, the ability to relate pixel values to one another, such as measuring temperatures.
DEMs Participants are introduced to Digital Elevation Models (DEM).
Elevation Calibration Participants calibrate Digital Elevation Models to actual elevations.
Animation This activity will introduce the student to developing animation sequences from a sequential series of still images.
