 Imaging Our Environment   This site will cover the fundamentals of image processing. When finished, the participant will have a basic understanding of the building blocks of digital images and a working knowledge in the mechanics of image processing.

This activity introduces the participant to NIH Image and the contrast and brightness controls.

This activity discusses an image histogram.

Measurements

This activity introduces the participant to using the NIH Image processing software to measure lengths and areas.

Density Slicing

This activity introduces the concept of density slicing.

Particle Analysis

This activity discusses the concept of particle analysis.

Density Calibration

This activity introduces the user to density calibration,the ability to relate pixel values to one another.

Digital Elevation Models

Learners are introduced to Digital Elevation Models (DEM).

Elevation Calibration

Learners discover how to calibrate Digital Elevation Models to actual elevations.

Animation

This activity introduces the learner to developing animation from a sequence of timed still images.
